Air Source Heat Pumps extract heat from the air to provide all your heating and hot water for your home, the units are usually situated outside the building and can be wall mounted.

Ambient air is pulled across a finned heat exchanger and the refrigerant inside is then superheated via an electrically driven compressor. This heat is then transferred to water through a plate heat exchanger, and pumped throughout the building to radiators, under floor heating or hot water tanks.

Air Source Heat Pumps come with a wireless controller or app on your phone, so you can control the temperature of your home from anywhere.

Heat Pumps produce lower carbon emissions than most fossil fuel appliances. They can convert 1 kilowatt of electricity into 3.5 kilowatts of heat, meaning they can be 350% efficient. For comparison, an A-rated combination boiler can only turn 1 kilowatt of gas or oil into 0.9 kilowatts of heat, meaning they are 90% efficient.

An Air Source Heat Pump reduces the total energy consumption of the home by up to 70%, thanks to the use of free air energy. This saving in consumption is maintained even when temperatures are below 0°C. An Air Source Heat Pump is a clean and green technology that respects the environment. It does not emit combustion gases since it does not need to burn anything to bring heat to your home.

Some radiator upgrades may be needed to install a Heat Pump in your home but this will become clear when we complete our initial survey.

With world-leading innovation in fan and compressor design, modern Heat Pumps have a sound pressure level of 45dB at one meter which for reference is 1dB louder than the average library and quieter than the average dishwasher which sits at around 70dB and the average gas boiler which sits at around 60dB.

So to put things into context, if you took your current boiler and placed it outside your house, connected it and turned it on, an Air Source Heat Pump supplied by us would still be quieter. These low noise levels are a way of ensuring that your heating system can be under the required decibel limit of 42dB taken one meter away from your neighbours’ door or window.
